5 Reasons Why an Online Health Coach Could be the Right Move for You

Who would have thought that the world would steadily shift to a more online-based FITNESS presence?

When we speak of fitness trainers, personal trainers, coaches, etc… We more often than not associate IN-PERSON training as being at the forefront, but in 2020, life drastically changed.

Post-COVID life saw a huge influx in remote work, e-commerce surge, and when it came to the health and wellness and fitness space, a massive reduction in gym-goers, all in an effort to keep safe distances. While life has since returned to more normalcy, the boom of fitness apps, virtual training, and online fitness coaching has arrived and is projected to continue growing.

Studies show that the online health and wellness space is heading towards a $79B evaluation by 2026 with the introduction and further development of smart watches, fitness apps, and mobile/virtual trainers, all allowing for remote flexibility in assisting clients at anytime from anywhere.

So this leaves us with a question… Is an online health coach right for you?

You may be thinking, “I don’t need a trainer or a coach. I know what I am doing.”

Granted. You may be right. There are many who may not see the added benefit of working with a coach, but statistics show many who could see a huge life change with this route. Studies show:

  • Roughly 22% of people do not know what they are doing in the gym when it comes to their workouts

  • Approximately 90% have a poor diet

  • 74% are concerned about their weight and 65% are worried about future health concerns

When we speak of health concerns, the unfortunate truth is that many individuals seek help when it is too late; when they are forced to change lifestyle habits that have caused severe health risks. This is fighting a battle on the defense, or reactive side of things, rather than looking towards the future to start today in a proactive manner.

Working with a coach does not have to be so grave either. I am by no means saying that people who are in poor health or lost in the gym are the only ones who could benefit. Even the fitness-inclined athletes, as we will reference them here, those that religiously go to the gym on a daily basis and have a solid handle on their nutrition, can experience huge upside and knowledge working with a coach. As the saying goes, ‘you don’t know what you don’t know.’ Who’s to say that you don’t learn something new, or discover an entirely different perspective… all because you reached out.

Let’s read on…

Here are 5 Reasons Why an Online Fitness Coach Could be the Right Move for You

1. You Don’t Know What You Are Doing

Remember when I mentioned those individuals who were lost in the gym? Roughly 22%…. (and I’d say more who may not want to admit it). Well, this is a huge reason why working with a fitness coach could be a great move for you!

For many first-timers, gyms and their fitness in general can be intimidating. This is the reason why many people will just opt to continue doing what they are doing and not change, rather than reach out for help.

Many people don’t like to admit that they need help. It could be the ego talking or could be general embarrassment because they are unsure how to use workout equipment. It’s ok to ask for help. You have experts in given fields ready to help you elevate and be the best version of yourself!

If you don’t know what you are doing in the gym or in the kitchen with your nutrition, reach out. I promise, you will thank me later for the choice you made.

2. You Have Health Concerns

We never want it to have to come to this, but this is unfortunately the time when people really begin to take their fitness and nutrition and overall health seriously.

You’ve just received a yearly physical and the doctor says you have high blood pressure, are several pounds overweight, and have signs of fatty liver disease building up. Not good news.

Leading a balanced and healthy lifestyle keeps these conversations out of your life, and having an online health coach to console with and soak up guidance, could be just what the doctor ordered.

But where do you begin?

Maybe you start with a basic entry-level app-membership for ease of use to get your feet wet, or take the bull by the horns and speak with a coach from the start who can set you up with personalized programming.

Understanding the right amount of calories, macronutrients, and proper exercise routine are crucial to ensure your health is back on the right track, and these are the specialties of an online health coach.

Don’t go at this alone! This could cause your health concerns to continue worsening and become critical. Reach out and get the right help from the experts.

3. You’re Not Seeing Progress

Everyday, countless people workout without any clear direction or knowledge of how their progress is going in comparison to their goals. They are essentially on a hamster wheel going through the same motions each day hoping to see the progress and results they dream of, but will never obtain.

Think about it: If your goal was to become a professional basketball player, would you be studying and practicing all of the exercises associated to be the best tennis player? Probably not. Your actions are not in alignment with your goals. It’s the same concept with your health and wellness.

You are not going to see the results you are looking for by doing incorrect and improper exercises and not contributing the proper nutrition in accordance with the goal. This is where a coach comes into play.

If you are struggling each day and getting discouraged from the lack of results you are aiming for, then a coach is going to cater a workout and nutrition plan for your specific body composition profile and goals so you can see steady progress over the duration of the program.

Who wouldn’t want a clear-cut roadmap to their goals?

Enough of the guesswork. Why waste anymore time, money, and energy going through motions that are leading you down the wrong road. You should have turned right a long time ago.

Leave the strategy and design to your coach while you execute and watch the positive progress begin to compound.

4. You Need More Support

If this is you, kudos for being humble and self-aware enough to admit this!

Many times, people don’t want to admit that they need help or need more accountability support with their fitness goals. Like I mentioned, “You don’t know what you don’t know” and working with a coach could be the best compliment to your current routine that you are looking for.

Look, we get it. Life gets busy and sometimes the support you need, is something that nicely fits into your busy life without adding another wrench on top of it. (Also nice to have that person light that fire under you from time to time!)

The great thing about online coaches is the flexibility. Normally, personal trainers hold their sessions in person, at a gym, at a client’s house, or elsewhere - requiring planning, scheduling, and alignment between the trainer and client. This can be quite inconvenient especially when balancing busy schedules.

Being a supportive online coach allows flexibility with the client so they can workout at their own pace and at the time that best suits their schedule, which can relieve some of that added stress for the day and show support where you need it most.

5. You’re Ready for that Next Milestone!

There’s no better feeling than crushing your goals and reaching the results you set out for, but once you are at that pinnacle, the journey shouldn’t stop there… Working with a coach to further elevate your potential could be the next big step!

Is it competing in a Bodybuilding competition?

Is it running an Ultra Marathon?

Maybe a triathlon?

Whatever thrill you seek as your next milestone in life to go after, putting a coach in your corner is a great way to continue growing yourself mentally, physically, and soaking up knowledge you may be capped out at.

In conclusion…

There are many reasons why an online coach could be the right fit for you. If you are considering this path, reflect and ask yourself where you are right now in your fitness journey?

Are you at the beginning looking for proper guidance to ensure you are staying educated, safe, and building muscle correctly through proper nutrition habits?

Are you somewhere in the middle with a foundation of workout knowledge, but you know your eating could really improve through better nutrition guidance and proper macronutrient programming?

Or maybe you are the pinnacle and ready to elevate your athleticism towards bigger and more audacious goals? Maybe you are considering trying out a Vegan, Vegetarian, or other lifestyle change?

Whatever the reason may be for seeking an ONLINE HEALTH COACH, always seek to continue growing, continue learning, and chasing your goals.
